More precisely, the complex bearing the most lipophilic benzoate ligand, 3P , showed the highest in vitro antiproliferative activity (mean IC 50 equal to 2.6 M), whereas the complexes with a more hydrophilic carboxylate, such as succinate and acetate, 4P and 5P , were endowed with a lower cytotoxic activity (mean IC 50 of 30.4 and 11.1 M, respectively)
