You can draw an extra card and produce five mana every turn if you're able to attack with the right creature often enough
As a mechanic I think it's fine, though it does require you to be either getting some good effects from the card itself or rebuying some pretty great abilities to be worth the tempo loss
Avacyn Restored (2012) brought another very broken card, but now in a very different guise (and it hasnt been banned or restricted outside of Commander yet)
Being able to pick a lane from there is incredibly valuable, with Izzet being the only combination Im nonplussed at the thought of pursuing
